Enjoy starry STEM fun at Girlstart!
Girlstart’s STEM Studio and Mini-Planetarium is a unique space for families to explore astronomy! Starry Nights are held the first Thursday of every month (except January, June, July, August, and December), with each month featuring a new astronomy experience and related hands-on activities. Family members of all ages and genders are welcome.
Enjoy these hands-on STEM activities at our April Starry Night:
- Apollo LRO: Design an orbiter that is compact to travel in space and can record the moon’s images, temperature, radiation and more!
- Lunar Phases Booklet: Create a tool that helps you identify the lunar phases in the night sky!
- Moon Landers: Channel your inner Aerospace Engineer as you design and build a shock-absorbing moon lander that will protect two “astronauts” from crashing when they land on the surface.
- Straw Rockets: Experiment with force, angles, and precision as you construct a straw rocket that soars!
- Enjoy star shows in our planetarium all event long!
Reminder: Chaperones are required. Adults must stay with their children throughout the event.
